Isotherm Anodes

An anode in an Isotherm fridge system is a sacrificial zinc anode installed on the skin fitting (the part of the through-hull connection that is in contact with seawater) to protect the fitting and surrounding brass components from galvanic corrosion. It works by attracting and corroding instead of the more valuable metal parts of the fitting, which are more noble. This prevents the brass of the skin fitting and other nearby metal components from being damaged by the corrosive effects of the seawater.
