Sleipner Stern Tunnels and Cowlings

A Sleipner stern tunnel thruster allows a boat to move sideways by creating thrust at the stern, using a propeller in a tunnel installed through the boat’s hull. In a Sleipner stern thruster, The thruster is housed within a tunnel that projects beyond the stern of the boat.

Cowls are sometimes added to the tunnel, especially in shallow draft or obstructed stern installations, to improve performance and reduce noise by managing water flow and preventing air from being sucked into the tunnel.
