Sleipner Brushes & Springs
In a Sleipner thruster, the brushes act as electrical contacts, specifically carbon brushes, that press against the commutator as it rotates. This sliding contact allows for the transfer of electrical power to the armature windings, enabling the motor to function and the thruster to operate.
The springs in a Sleipner thruster, specifically in the brush holders, provide consistent contact pressure between the brushes and the commutator. This ensures reliable electrical contact for proper motor operation and prevents issues like reduced performance or sparking.
