Sleipner Shearpins
A Sleipner thruster shear pin acts as a safety mechanism, designed to break under a specific amount of force, protecting the thruster’s motor and gearleg from damage caused by sudden impacts or obstructions. This sacrificial component breaks when the thruster encounters a potentially damaging situation, like hitting debris, preventing more serious and costly damage to the thruster’s core components.
