How Long Does A Webasto Heater Installation Take?
A professional Webasto installation typically takes one to two days, depending on the number of outlets and the complexity of the ducting routes. While a basic “unit replacement” can be done in a few hours, a full new system requires careful routing of fuel lines, exhaust hull fittings, and BSS-compliant lagging.
Are Webasto heaters Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) compliant?
Yes, provided they are installed using genuine marine kits. To pass a BSS inspection, the installation must feature fire-resistant fuel lines (ISO 7840), a gas-tight stainless steel exhaust with a swan neck, and proper ventilation. JPC Direct only installs BSS-specified kits to ensure your vessel remains safe and insurable.
What is the warranty on a new Webasto marine heater?
When supplied and installed by an Authorised Webasto Partner like JPC Direct, your heater receives a full 3-year on-board warranty. This is a significant advantage over “supply-only” or self-installed units, which typically only carry a 2-year parts warranty and do not cover the labor costs of an engineer visiting your boat.
How often should I service my Webasto boat heater?
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
We tend to approach this as a repair, when necessary, rather than a “service”.
If your heater is working as it should, then continue to use it normally.
If you live aboard your boat, however, and the heater is in constant use, then you might consider a yearly service, ideally before the autumn season begins.
Regular maintenance prevents the most common Webasto issues, such as carbon build-up on the glow plug or “sooting” caused by old fuel, ensuring the unit starts reliably on the first frost of the year.
